Oh wow! What a show. It wasn't long ago I told my wife how nice it would be to have Heypenny, Butterfly Boucher, and Mikky Ekko at the same show. 2/3 ain't bad. It turned out to be one of the best concerts I have ever attended, and lived up, very well, to the expectations Nashville music has been instilling in me this past year...
Mikky Ekko opened the show with a robust set of 9 songs, playing 4 of the 5 full length tracks from his "Strange Fruit" EP and 5 others which are as yet unreleased.

I know of no other performer as passionate as Mikky. His stage presence is powerfully addictive and elicits feelings of blissful well-being. To be in the throng of Mikky Ekko is to be spellbound.
As usual, Mikky's performance this night was flawless. Aside from creating a genuinely interesting style of music, another strong suit of Mikky's is consistency. Every show demonstrates his impeccable sensibility and I have yet to see him make a mistake on stage.
Butterfly Boucher, who has already earned honorable mention here on Teradyme at the first show I saw her perform at the Basement in Nashville was SO invigorating! Following Mikky is not an easy thing to do, and Butterfly handled it consummately.

I lost count of her songs, but I think she played nearly all of the tracks from the album this event was held to release, "Scary Fragile", and though the album itself is worthy of listening to on repeat for days or weeks on end, nothing, and I mean nothing compares to hearing her perform them live.
Butterfly's confidence is explosive and contagious. How she remains so humble on stage beguiles me, as she makes playful jokes about her music and her storied past between songs. It's truly a testament to her character, which is reflected clearly in each and every song.
With a style and method bordering on legendary, she materializes our ultimate fantasies of musical performance onstage, and plays music so catchy and danceable, I believe anyone in attendance must be comatose to remain still.
I welcome Butterfly back into the limelight, and plan to attend as many of her shows as possible.
